Aitkin American Legion, Post 86
July, August, September 2019

  • Greetings to everyone!  Hope your summer is going well and you are enjoying all the fun that is happening in our community and at Post  86.  Now is the time to attend the Legion's First Friday Dinner and our Sunday Breakfast Buffet on the third Sunday of each month.  The meals are excellent and the price is always right!  make sure to check out calendars included with your newsletter or at aitkinpost86.org!

  • Our country's Birthday Celebration on July 4 this just around the corner, so let's remember to cherish the freedoms that have endured for over 200 years.  Being a part of the American Legion Family is just one of the ways you can be a part of keeping our freedoms and traditions.  Come to the monthly meetings (2nd Thursday of each month, 7 pm), support the many fun activities at the Post.  Remember we are an organization that supports and advocates for our nation's veterans--the men and women of the military.

  • Between the members of the  Post,  Auxiliary,  Color Guard and Sons of the American Legion, seems like there is always some event going one almost every day.  Check out the calendar!

  • Riverboat Days will be here before long--there are lots of fun things happening at the Post on Saturday, Aug 3rd.  There will be various vendors selling a variety of items. Contact the Legion if you are interested in having a booth. The Auxiliary will be selling 'walking tacos' along with a Bake Sale.  Music, Games, Food and much more will be happening all day!  what a fun day for the whole family.

  • Did you know that the American Legion will be 100 years old on Sept 7, 2019!  Post 86 will be hosting an OPEN HOUSE to celebrate!  More detail and information will be announced at our general meetings, at the Post bulletin board, and on this web site.   Make sure you stop in the Legion to hear more!

  • Ladies of Auxiliary continue to do so many projects!  We could sure use a few more hands helping us out.

  • We'll be needing volunteers to help at our booth for Riverboat days.  Just a couple hours of your time is so much appreciated.  Visiting with our veterans every month is a project we could use your assistance.  Attend our monthly meetings to learn more.  At the Dept of Minnesota Convention Auxiliary Unit 86 received several

  • Citations of Service as well as several Honorable Mentions for the following:

    • Auxiliary Emergency Fund**Leadership***National Security

    • Education****Past Presidents Parley*Poppy
